Review Policy as of 2/3/2012
I review mostly YOUNG ADULT books. Occasionally I will review an adult book or a middle grade book but for the most part, I stick with young adult.Within the young adult genre, I tend to stick with contemporary and paranormal. However, I am always open to trying something new, like mystery or historical. A few books that outside the strictly contemporary or paranormal genres that I have enjoyed include THE BODY FINDER by Kimberly Derting and PROPHECY OF THE SISTERS by Michelle Zink. I love books with great characters and scenes that will make my heart melt. I'm a total sucker for romance as well. If a book has music or horses in it, it's pretty much guaranteed that I will read it. I also love books that take place outside of the United States, whether travel is a main theme of the book or the book is just set in a different country. Books about minorities also tend to be a favorite of mine.
Some books that I love:
Ballads of Suburbia by Stephanie Kuehnert (this is my ALL-TIME favorite book)
Willow by Julia Hoban
Don't Breathe a Word by Holly Cupala
The Dark Divine by Bree Despain
Harmonic Feedback by Tara Kelly
Brightly Woven by Alexandra Bracken
Saving June by Hannah Harrington
Chasing Brooklyn by Lisa Schroeder
Ordinary Beauty by Laura Wiess
Shade by Jeri Smith Ready
Bitter Melon by Cara Chow
I do read self-published books but please be warned that I judge these books as I would any published book and because of that my reviews may appear harsh.
If you are interested in having me review your book, please contact me at harmonybookreviews[at] yahoo [dot] com. I will respond within one week letting you know whether or not I am interested. If you receive no response, please consider it a no. I accept physical books as well as e-books, as long as it can be read on my Kindle.
Please understand that while I am honored to receive any requests at all, I will be very picky when deciding what to accept. I will only accept books that I have a true interest in and would most likely purchase myself. While that means I may be turning down books, it is better for both myself and the author as I will be able to read and review in a much more timely manner.
I write honest reviews and, unfortunately, that means that occasional negative review. I try my best to be courteous when writing these reviews and never attack the author personally. I also do not guarantee a review as I often do not finish books that I end up not liking.
